The Story of Gerhardt and Judith
Sir Gerhardt, Graf of the house of Wuestenburg, was a crusader of the incipient Order of the Teutonic Knights of St. Mary's Hospital. After that failed business venture, his return journey home took him through the court in Milan (and several hundred years in the future), whereupon he encountered the lady Judith, an energetic young Burgundian noblewoman serving in the entourage of the Duchesca of Milan. He fell deeply in love nearly on sight, wooing her from other suitors (realizing that a marriage into her wealthy, though lower ranking family would bring the needed means to restore his neglected lands); after wedding her, he swept her off to his verdant lands near the crux of the Rhine and Main rivers.
Household Arms of Gerhardt and Judith
There, Judith proceeded to eagerly educate their retainers, servants and subjects in the gentler arts (especially dance) and propagate the more elegant fashions found in Burgundy and Italy (thigh high leather boots, tight doublets and fitted hose, oh my!), while acquiring many new skills such as dyeing, weaving and embroidery. Their household well-fed, well-dressed and well-danced, Lady Judith and Sir Gerhardt were allowed the leisure to consider expanding their sphere of influence, which brought them to the Drachenwald Crown tourney where they were victorious.
