Rules for Drachenwald Royal at Pennsic 2009
Camp coordinator and landagent for Kingdom of Drachenwald 2009: Duke Matthew Blackleaf
If you intend to stay in the Kingdom of Drachenwald encampment at Pennsic you are expected to:
- BEFORE you register for Pennsic you need to contact the Drachenwald camcoordinator tell him you wish to stay in the camp. Contact information for these persons can be found on the "Drachenwald at pennsic" webpage on the Kingdom website. A camp layout will be prepared and to fit you in information that you will be staying in the camp is needed. Also note that the Drachenwald Royal encampment is for Drachenwalders, it is not a "free for all camp".
Register that you are staying in the Kingdom of Drachenwald encampment when you pre-register. Unless you do so - no space is alloted to the camp to include you and if we don't have enough space you might not be able to camp with the Kingdom. You also need to send your preregistration number to the landagent!
- The amount of space that each person is alloted is 225 square feet. From this you also need to give up some land for the community areas. Your tent should not exceed 200 square feet in size ? if it does and you plan to stay in it alone ? you need to contact the camp coordinator to decide how to solve the issue. Please note that this might prevent you from camping with the Kingdom!
- If you have lived in Drachenwald before and wish to camp with your former Kingdom - contact the campcoordinator before you register to camp with the Kingdom. It is not certain that you can camp with us.
- Pay a small fee while there (a few dollars) to help pay for garbage bags, torches, oil, rent of storage space, etc (this is for communal use and benefits everyone who stays in the camp)
- Help keep the camp clean, fill the torches with oil
- Help take out trash; there are communal trash cans in the camp and everyone needs to help out with emptying them into the dumpsters
- Help set up AND take down the common items like the gate and the camp fence
- If the Royalty is present at Pennsic everyone needs to volunteer some of their time to assist TRM
- If there is a PCS party scheduled in the camp everyone is expected to help prepare the camp and also to clear away afterwards.
- If you are going to Pennsic for the first time - make arrangements to borrow camping gear for your stay. There are a few things stored in the trailer that you might borrow, for example a chair, an air mattress, a tent, but you need to check with the person keeping the inventory list, currently that is Duchess Alienor.
Drachenwald has limited storage space and currently there is not room to add much more. The space we have is mainly used for the Kingdom thrones and some regalia, community items that makes camping a little easier (like a table, a few benches some trash containers, etc) and then for those who are regulars in the camp. Even the regulars loose their right to store things if they stop travelling to Pennsic. After three years of no show - the things can be disposed of or be lent out without permission from the owner. We must unfortunately limit the amount we store. No one is allowed to store anything without clearing this with the camp coordinator!
Nothing shall be purchased for the Drachenwald community before clearing this with both Duke Matthew Blackleaf and Duchess Alienor of Farryngdon! (These gentles are in charge since they are the ones that once arranged for us to be able to store things at all.)
Other useful information:
There is usually no common kitchen or meal plan, you need to plan for that yourself. However there is a food court where you can buy prepared food (breakfast, lunch and dinner), estimate 20-30 dollars a day for this. The camp ground has a small store which keeps a few things, but to get to a general food store you will need a car. The camp does NOT have a community car.
There is an ATM machine at the camp ground in case you need extra cash.
